circa 1860, with heavy laminated octagonal 35 1/2in. barrel signed in gilt ‘PANCHAUD A LAUSANNE’ on the top-flat within a white metal ‘bow-tie’ border, dove-tailed fore-sight bisecting an inlaid gilt arrow device, elevating tangent rear-sight, starburst engraved breech-block with gilt borderlines, gilt floral band forwards of the borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, unsigned borderline, scroll and game scene engraved isolated bar-action lock, carved, moulded and engraved dolphin headed hammer, figured walnut full-stock (repaired cracks to wrist and fore-end), the underside of butt inlet with a hunting horn device with central number ‘5’, iron Swiss-style heel-plate, reinforcing plate to underside of fore-end, spurred trigger guard, double set triggers, three rectangular escutcheoned barrel-keys, three ramrod pipes and ebony ramrod, the muzzle with dove-tail to right hand side for a sporting bayonet (absent)
