for 1884, 48in. (4ft.) black powder only reproved barrel, sight rib engraved ‘STEPHEN GRANT. 67A ST. JAMES’S STREET. LONDON.’, large action with carved and sculpted fence, elongated top-strap, Jones patent rotary-underlever, rebounding back-action lock, plain finish overall, retaining traces of colour-hardening, 13 1/2in. pistolgrip stock (bruised at hand) with steel pistolgrip-cap and heel and toe plates, fore-end with grip-catch release lever, minor losses and insert repairs to edges, weight 21lb.
