Springers were developed from the American TomCar especially for the British Army. The upgrade was carried out by EPS, Enhanced Protection Services at an alleged cost of just £86,000 each. The total order was for 100 and they served in Afghanistan in 2009 we have used these for a few years and love the suspension. Spares are available from EPS at reasonable prices or TomCar in America. The British Army’s entire spares stock was purchased by a private individual and we normally buy from him. This particular machine has covered just 146 miles and is the best I have seen for a long time – expect the mileage to increase when the V5 comes through. They are a real blast on the road – it has lots of kit including its on-board compressor, an electric recovery winch, sand ladders, spare wheel towing boom, weather covers and even a Gucci light bar that I have never come across before. Springers are two wheel belt drive, high and low with a diff lock lever. Load capacity 1 ton, tipper rear, diesel lombadini engined.
